Bangkok at a glance

Bangkok is a hot capital of palaces, river boats and rail hops. The Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Chinatown, Chatuchak Market, Jim Thompson House, the Bangkok National Museum, Lumphini Park, ICONSIAM and Khao San Road sit on BTS, MRT and Chao Phraya boats, with day trips to Ayutthaya, floating markets, Maeklong Railway Market and Ancient City. Suvarnabhumi (BKK) is the catalogue airport. Heat management, modest temple dress and one cluster per half-day matter more than stacking every market.

Budget travelAccommodation and any Ayutthaya or market day drive costs most strongly. Check current prices close to travel instead of relying on a fixed estimate.

The cooler, drier months suit palace courtyards, Wat Arun and Lumphini Park. Heat is still strong at midday; keep indoor hours for the National Museum and malls. The rainy season works if you use boats and covered BTS links.
