Berlin at a glance

Berlin is a large capital of museums, neighbourhood life and recent history. Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Museum Island, Berlin Cathedral, the East Side Gallery, the Berlin Wall Memorial, Checkpoint Charlie, the Holocaust Memorial, Charlottenburg Palace and Alexanderplatz with the TV Tower sit in several districts — not one walk. Potsdam, Sachsenhausen, Wannsee and Spreewald are separate day trips. The airport is Berlin Brandenburg (BER).

Budget travelAccommodation and museum days drive costs most strongly. Check prices shortly before your trip instead of relying on a fixed estimate.

Late spring and summer suit parks, Wannsee and neighbourhood walks. Winter is cold; keep indoor hours for Museum Island and memorials.
