Gibraltar at a glance
Gibraltar is a compact British Overseas Territory of a limestone rock, caves, macaques and a Spanish land border. The Rock of Gibraltar, Upper Rock Nature Reserve, St Michael's Cave, Barbary macaques, the Great Siege Tunnels, Europa Point, Casemates Square, Main Street, Catalan Bay and the Gibraltar Museum sit on walking and bus routes, with day trips to La Linea, Alcaidesa, Sotogrande and the nearby Costa del Sol. Gibraltar Airport (GIB) is the catalogue airport. Walking, buses and a calm border crossing shape the day more than a car.
Quick information
Spring and autumn suit Upper Rock paths, Europa Point and Catalan Bay without peak summer heat. Summer is hot on the rock; keep the cave and museum for midday. The levanter cloud can hide viewpoints in any season.
