Hamburg at a glance
Hamburg is a harbour city of canals, warehouse districts and a broad waterfront. Speicherstadt, Miniatur Wunderland, the Elbphilharmonie, the Rathaus, Landungsbrücken, St. Michael's Church, the Reeperbahn, Planten un Blomen, the Fischmarkt and the Alster sit in several districts rather than on one walking loop, linked by S-Bahn. Lübeck, Blankenese, Stade and Lüneburg work best as separate day trips. Most visitors arrive at Hamburg Airport (HAM).
Quick information
Late spring and summer suit the Alster, Landungsbrücken and Blankenese. Winter is damp; keep indoor hours for Miniatur Wunderland and the Elbphilharmonie plaza.
