Kyiv is a historic Dnipro capital of cathedrals, cave monasteries and river terraces. This is not a normal carefree city break. St Sophia's Cathedral, the Golden Gate, Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the Maidan area, Khreshchatyk, Andriivskyi Descent, the National Opera, Taras Shevchenko Park, Podil and the Motherland Monument remain the city's main landmarks, but every plan is subject to current official travel advice, air-raid alerts and local-authority instructions. Boryspil (KBP) and Kyiv Zhuliany (IEV) are the airports. Civilian air access, trains and day trips must be rechecked; do not assume they are operating.

Family travel

Do not treat Kyiv as a family holiday destination. Several governments advise against travel here. If you are already in the city under current official guidance, keep children close, know the nearest metro shelter, download the official alert app, and prefer short indoor visits over hills and monuments. Day trips are conditional. Skip Andriivskyi Descent and the Motherland Monument with young children if alerts are frequent.
